1. The Hawaii Uninsured Project Update Community meetings are being held throughout the state and upcoming locations are Windward Oahu, Molokai, Honolulu, Lihue, Kihei, East Hawaii, Kahului, Leeward Oahu, North Hawaii, and West Hawaii. Join a meeting to learn more about uninsured issues and share your thoughts. Hawaii Covering Kids representatives will be at all of the events and we look forward to seeing you there! 4. Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured: New Information a. New data and a discussion of trends on states' use of CHIP funds and the coming dip in funding for the CHIP program are presented in the new policy brief "Trends in CHIP Expenditures: State-by-State Data".
b. The latest installment of their survey of the states reveals that CHIP provided health insurance for 2.7 million low-income children in December 2000, a 48% increase from December 1999. The report also shows that enrollment in CHIP has consistently increased by roughly 900,000 children per year in its first 3 years of operation.
